Generally, runway shows are pure theatre. I mean, who really wears a flower pot atop her head? (unless you’re English, of course) But, if you look closely at runway shows, you’re usually able to discover which trends will be available in the upcoming season. And this Spring, scarves are everywhere!
There are a few reasons that scarves are – to quote Martha Stewart – a good thing. First, a scarf can completely change the look of an outfit. Have a plain suit? Jazz it up with a splash of color. Take a pair of skinny jeans and a white V-neck tee, add a scarf, and – voila! – an outfit.
Second, scarves are generally so versatile. Add punch to last year’s outfit with a scarf in this year’s hottest color and breathe new life into the ensemble. A scarf is always easier on the budget than a new dress, suit, or even blouse.
Third, scarves are adaptable. Twist it. Tie it. Wrap it. One little scrap of material – so many options!
Since I am so enthusiastic about scarves, I tend to add more to my collection every season. And, this spring is no exception!
My favorite new piece for the season is the Dottie Scarf by FRAAS. During the long winter, I tend to wear darker tones and lots (and lots) of black. But the Easter egg hues of the Dottie scarf look oh-so-fresh to an eye that’s weary of winter’s somber shades.
