Move over handkerchief bottom and make way high-low hem! The asymmetrical hemline du jour is a more refined silhouette of the runway versions so prevalent in recent shows.
The antithesis of the theatrical runway “costume,” these clean lined, elegant skirts pair fashion with function. Such classic good looks would be right at home even in the most conservative of offices.
I’ve long been a fan of an asymmetrical hemline. From the time I saw Princess Diana’s aptly named Revenge Dress by Christina Stambolian in 1994, asymmetrical for me became synonymous with a woman who is daring, exciting, and just a little bit cheeky!
My top three picks are above. But, for weekend wear, shorter and more casual versions also abound.
Makes you wonder why you spent all that time learning to sew a straight hem…
