This Spring, Don’t Think Pink… Try Radiant Orchid!

Radient orchid is the color for springHalf the country is in a deep freeze and most of us are thinking about mistletoe and chestnuts roasting by an open fire. But, in the fashion industry… it’s Spring! Every year at this time, Pantone makes the highly anticipated announcement of their Color of the Year. Some years I agree (Emerald, 2013) and some years I don’t (Chili Pepper, 2007). This year, the choice is Radiant Orchid and I want to stand up and cheer!

Radiant Orchid is a color that is warm and inviting, harmonizes well with many skin tones, and has a fresh, young look. According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”

The selection of a color of the year is an arduous process. Pantone combs the world looking for important color influences. This can include the entertainment industry, films in production, traveling art collections, hot new artists, popular travel destinations and more.

I’m curious… What do you think of Radiant Orchid as the Color of the Year?
