Tangerine is one Pantone’s Top 10 hottest colors for Spring. A quick swing through your favorite shop or a glance at any fashion magazine will confirm – adding this pop of color will update almost any outfit.
Although I love tangerine, this delicious citrus shade is notoriously hard to wear. All yellows, oranges and yellow-based greens make most skin look sallow and somewhat ill. So what’s a fashion-conscious girl to do?
I’ve found through trial (and hideous error) that the easiest way to add yummy tangerine to your Spring wardrobe is to keep large blocks of the color far from your face. Sandals, handbags, and belts are all great options. Skirts, capris, colored jeans – will work, too, as long as the color doesn’t reflect into your face.
Or, use tangerine within a fun print like the Kate Spade dress I’ve highlighted. Here the bold tangerine is not the dominant color, but purposeful enough so that the dress is instantly recognizable as “2012.”
