I must preface this post by explaining that I am not the world’s most consistent cook (that title would undoubtedly go to my hubby – an amateur chef with some serious talent). I can, however, make a mean meatloaf (seriously!), lasagna that my kids beg for, and a ham-and-cheese soufflé that will make you think you’ve died and gone to heaven. But after that… let’s just say that day to day cooking is often more of a chore than an art form!
So, when I was given the opportunity to review Country Bob’s All Purpose Sauce through my membership at The Product Review Place , I jumped at the chance. From years of experimentation in the kitchen, I’ve learned that a great sauce can take a ho-hum idea and turn it into a family favorite.
Country Bob’s bills the sauce as perfect for steak, hamburgers, chicken, fries and barbecue. And this weekend we tried the sauce with plain, roasted chicken to get the full effect of the flavor. This was, without question, one of the best sauces I have ever tried!
In order to get the full impact from that statement, I must disclose that several years ago hubby and I owned a hot sauce manufacturing firm (we produced four sauces with varying degrees of pain). I have been to dozens of trade shows and tried literally hundreds of barbecues, hot sauces, rubs, and steak sauces.
But Country Bob’s is a real standout! The thick sauce was barbecue inspired but with a twist. Sweet, with a hint of tamarind. Tangy, but not overly spicy. In a word…perfection!
And the best part? The Country Bob’s web site offers a huge number of recipes — even I was inspired! From entrees, to summer grilling ideas, to soups, stews, even special sauces and dressings. If you can’t find a fabulous idea for dinner tonight, I’ll eat my hat — covered with Country Bob’s, of course!
